We got some PAWsome news today….the City received an anonymous $7,000 donation today toward the dog park!!! This means we can definitely move forward on Phase 2 and complete it with Phase 1 AND we are into Phase 3! I am proud to be part of such a generous and supportive community!!!!

A Nice Piece in the Opinion Section of the HDN

The Editor of the HDN wrote a niece piece in the Opinion section of the paper about the power of a grassroots effort. This project has truly been a group effort…with a number of people contributing. It is nice to see everyone’s effort recognized! Check out the story:

Many THANKS!!!

Many of you have worked very hard to make this park happen and for that I am grateful!!! Thank you! A special thanks goes to the Parks Director, the City Commissioners, and the City Manager for their support. BIG thanks to Henry Schwaller and Schwaller family for their grand donation that really put us over the hump!!! I can’t express enough gratitude for my fellow officers Laurie Mortinger and Virginia Jacobs AND the core group of planners Cathy Reeves, Bunnie Bowen, and Pat Geier! And finally thanks to all of you who donated, supported, and or contributed to this project! I hope to see you ALL at the Hays Dog Park!!!!!

We have permission to build!!!!

BIG NEWS Friends!!! Tonight the City Commission voted 4-0 to give us permission to begin building Phase 1 AND…’s the best news….the fencing for Phase 2!!!! The bids were very competitive and so far we have saved $24,339 off the original projected price!!!!! The Commission also have us permission to install the remaining items from Phase 2 as the money comes in…..and we are close!!! What does this mean?? That we will start building a dog park as soon as the contractor can order the supplies!!!!

Today is an important day……

Friends, today is a very important day for the dog park….we will find out if the City Commission will allow us to begin construction of Phase I.  Also….we will have some good news to share with the City Commission….fingers and paws crossed!!!!
